Title: What flower
Post by: Borlotti on July 12, 2010, 17:58:57
Margaret passed this plant/flower on to me when she gave up her allotment.  Not sure if I like it much, shall I dig it up.  She did tell me the name but might keep it for the bees/butterflies.  Anyone know what it is, she did tell me the name as she was a gardener, or maybe I am just growing a big weed.  :( :( :(

Common hogweed, I think. And not Giant Hogweed, you'd soon recognise that  :D

mind the white sap, some people are allergic to it.

White sap in general is best avoided.

Common hogweed or a similar umbellifer. It's OK as long as it's out of your way, but watch out for seedlings in the wrong place.

I don't want common hogweed on my allotment, what a horrible name, and I thought it was a rare flower.  It will get the chop soon.
