My mums sister is terminally ill in a hospice at the moment (not expected to last the week) and she is called Gladys im trying to find a rose or something with that name that i can order for my mum to plant in her memory, but im going round in circles on google
something that can go in a pot would be best because they have their house up for sale.

sorry to hear about this, debster, can't help with the plant, hope you get some good ideas :)

Hi Debster. I just typed "Gladys> plant into google and its got a couple of plants
-
There is a Gladys Quine rose.
http://www.worldofrosesshop.com/acatalog/copy_of_Gladys_Quine.html
Alternately you can have a new variety & name it yourself this is just one company but there are loads of others that offer the same service if you google it.
http://www.countrygardenroses.co.uk/name_your_own_rose.php
Prices can go up drastically eg: this one costs £39.95 whereas the company in the first link charges from £795.00 but they do give you far more say in what the rose looks like.

i love the idea of naming one yourself i may well do that for mum, still looking for others too though
-
oh my life i have just discovered a viola named Gladys Hughes that is her name, it appears to be unavailable though
-
my aunt lost her battle yesterday so off for a really good look for something suitable to send to mum, rip sweet lady
-
Debster, I am sorry to read your news, at least she is no longer in pain, but it must be hard for your mum, I think the plant is a lovely idea, let us know what you find - my grandma was called Gladys and it would be nice to have a plant called Gladys.
Take care
T.

-
I had a quick search, but not found anything yet. Yes, naming a rose sounds good, seems to makes it even more personal.

debster why don't you contact the national viola collection? I am fairly sure that they would
be able to find the viola called gladys hughes that you want in memory of your mum-tugboat

Hello, I am sorry to hear of your aunt's death. I hope that you will consider buying the Gladys Quine rose which I had named after my grandmother who died of TB in 1934 leaving my father aged 7. You can buy the rose from World of Roses and it is truly a lovely rose, it starts off deep apricot colour in bud and turns pale pink as it goes over. I know my grandmother would be proud to know that her rose was growing in memory of your beloved aunt. I am sure they are both up there somewhere having a good natter!
Best wishes and my sincere condolences to you and your mother.
