This one is a good idea I think it could be converted to just making lids for cold frames too.

I'd love to have one of those but we don't drink enough!
I bet the kids had such a good time making it, thanks for the link.

i seen one of these a few years back at aye flower show looked very good ;D

It looks great, I bet it gets really warm too. ;D

It takes 1500 bottles. I have not worked out how you stop the wind going between the bottles.

It is never going to be a perfect match so there will be rain and air getting in.
The main thing is it will give enough protection to grow quite a lot in.
However if any one wants to be pernickerty then I would suggest that clear bathroom sealant will not cost a fortune.

What a great school project for the children. Also a good introduction to growing plants and veg. Lovely idea well done those people.. 8) ;)

i saw this a few months back, i never even considered doing something similar for a cold frame!
I've been on the hunt for glass for a diy cold frame but now i know what to do.
and i've got one of those cheap plastic greenhouses (the pokey ones from QD) which i brought a replacement cover for the other day, reckon you could use an old cover (or a new one if you wanted) to line the inside with to stop the wind, obviously wouldnt work for the full scale greenhouse though.

If you did it in an alternating double, row you'd pretty much eliminate the gaps and you'd never need to insulate it any more.....
