I pledged on the 25th when the offer was put up and practically got an email reply in minutes saying they will be sent out in approx 28 days.  Just been to the website today http://www.rhs.org.uk/growyourown  and it says that over 15000 have now pledged, so I must been one of the lucky few that were quick enough.  I'll let you know if and when they arrive.

Title: Re: Make the pledge!
Post by: Digeroo on March 21, 2010, 10:27:41
I also have the standard version.  Recipe for carrot cake looks good.  The container growing sheet will be useful for my daughter where there is limited space, and I shall pin up the growing guide in the lottie shed.  I put one up last year and it disappeared so hopefully someone found it useful.

Seeds are always welcome. :P

I would have liked the soil test kit.

....Baccy Man. you must have had a posh version!!

As I work from home I used the company name on the request perhaps that made a difference. Must admit the fruit & veg snips worth a tenner were unexpected.

Well begger me!

I set you all on to this and I haven't received mine yet, and I sent in before you even new about it!  :'(  ;)

Got my T& M feebies on Friday though!

This was the one where postage was free and I had a £5 voucher so got 6 packets. ( Went to pages where if you got two for the price of one)

Petunia - 'Rainbow'

Pansy - Fancy Cats

Pansy - Daffodil mixed

Zinnia - Parasol mixed

Auricula -Viennese

Verbena - Quartz Waterfall

Sweet Pea - Miss Wilmott.

I had 2x£5 vouchers but the system would not accept another lot!

Well, I just got the bumph and no seeds at all  :-\  Not that I need any more, but I was going to give them to my little nephew because he enjoys dramatic broadcast sowing.

Mine arrived this morning, only just within the 28 days they stated.

I was beginning to think someone had tipped them off about me blagging too many free seeds.

Still waiting for the Dig-in ones thou.  :(
Title: Re: Make the pledge!
Post by: earlypea on March 25, 2010, 09:15:57
Thanks for the generous offers, but it's actually fine.  I felt guilty ordering them anyway - I mean they're intended for total beginners and not people with stacks of seed already.

Besides it doesn't really matter what kind of seeds I give to my nephew because whatever he sows only weeds appear (my sister's a bit of a novice with a garden and doesn't appear to understand where they come from) and he fully believes they're whatever he sowed (sweet  :) ).

Post by: artichoke on March 26, 2010, 13:19:24
I made the RHS pledge, got the seeds and leaflets, and must have absentmindedly entered some sort of competition, because I have just had an email from the RHS saying

"Thank you for entering our recent competition in the March e-newsletter. I am pleased to tell you that you have won a easy access coldframe from Two Wests & Elliott. Congratulations!"

Have examined it carefully for signs of phishing, but it appears to be the real thing, and the person it is from is defintely an RHS editor, so I've sent them my address and should receive the cold frame within 28 days! According to the Wests website, it costs over £90 and looks pretty stunning:

http://www.twowests.co.uk/TwoWestsSite/product/CFEACF.htm

Does anyone remember a competition in the March Newsletter? I don't think I even have the newsletter......or was it something we were automatically entered for when we signed up?

Help, someone - I am having a senior moment.....

That's the one! Thank you so much for jogging my memory - I remember now thinking I might as well click "potato" as ignore the whole thing because it was clearly just a lottery.....:

Which one of the following vegetables benefits from 'earthing up' (ie: drawing soil up around the shoots as they develop)?
Potato
Lettuce
Aubergine

I'm amazed to have won it! I've never had a proper cold frame, just bits of glass balanced on bricks. Can't wait for it to arrive!
