Title: radar onions
Post by: adrianhumph on November 04, 2004, 15:39:33
Hi All :D,
I have planted some radar over wintering onion sets & they have grown on quite well, with green shoots about 6 inches high,  ;D  & they seem to rooted ib quite well. However i have noticed on close inspection that the onions themselves have gone soft :-[  Is this normal or are they rotting ???

                                           Adrian.

Fairly normal I would say.

I have radar, electric and one, swift I think, in the ground and at the same stage as yours. The bulbs are slightly soft but all else looks normal and fine.

AH! Two Jerry's thinking alike! Think we must have bought the same 'collection pack' of 3 types from DT Browns!!! Anyway..... Sounds like we are all roughly at the same stage of development - some of mine have had the tops 'bent over' and snapped by the strong winds a few weeks ago - is this a problem at this stage or should i lay my hand on some of the windbreak netting stuff???????
