Is that all the varities they have or just the one's you're going for, if you don't mind me asking? And also what size packs are they? No Wilko's here, but planning to import some with a relation! (no where close to matching their prices over here that I've found).

:) Hi Macy, these are Wilkos specialist varieties, one more to add Rooster, only the price tags are out at the mo, checked again tonight no stock in yet... because of the snow ::) usually up to ten seed potatoes in a bag,

they have other varieties for £2.99ish.. Desiree, Pentland Javelin etc will check price on Monday and see if any stock in ;D / shades x

Went to wilkos on Saturday, bad move the OH insisted he come with me, tried to saunter down the gardening isle in a very cool manner and everything i looked at he said "do you really need that right now?" and looked me hard daring me to say yes, as he was right, i did not need anything, i just wanted it all, so i came away with a plastic cabinet on wheels with 6 drawers that i will be using to store my seeds in, in fact it has worked out so well i am getting another one and will be labelling the drawers Jan-Dec so i can crop rotate.......still sulking about the perlite and seeds tho.....

will be doing a sneaky visit back without him......

can recommend the rooster spuds and Maris Peer as purchased both from there last year and they grew well, had to get my PFA from a garden centre as i like to plant a large bag of them as they are lush!!!!!!

;D ;D Lottiedolly! My OH is a garden shopping killjoy. His favourite phrase is "do you really need that now!" I never go and get seeds with him-I always take the girls as they are my shopping monkeys-go on mum, just buy it...!  ;D

Although not seeds our Wilco's has some terracotta "pins" with herb names on them @38p each... about ten different names..  had to buy some.. will probably paint them with pva to keep water out of them, to reduce the chance of them getting frosted..  :)
Title: Re: Wilko Seeds........
Post by: lottiedolly on January 12, 2010, 15:08:09
See, because of him i never even got to see the little terracotta signs, they sound nice and i prob would have got some of them, especially if they have them with herb names on them, they would look sweet in herb pots.

Thats it now, MUST go back without him

Post by: saddad on January 12, 2010, 17:17:50
They also have some larger ones on "oval" plaques also terracotta... Tomatoes, Radish, Lettuce, onions, Carrots, Beetroot but they are about a pound each...  :-X

That made me snort tea everywhere.  ;D Tres droll ca!

Glad I'm not the only frootloop that offers to water plants or points out the obvious abuse and neglect that goes in your average wilkos.  ;)

Title: Re: Wilko Seeds........
Post by: saddad on January 23, 2010, 17:12:07
Yes... I'll have some of them What was it @£5 for six? I was busy with OH buying bulbs and plants but managed three of the "Collections" so got 18 packets of seeds for £5... some will be underweight compared with normal packs but fine for the numbers anyone actually wants...  ;D

I went in today for a quick browse(I was in there about an hour :-[)
I spotted some rhubarb crowns but have a question,
some of the crowns had leaves/stalks developing and some didn't,do I go for the ones with or without growth?

I always look for a bit of growth on stuff-mine was the same - I kept it in the shed until I was ready to plant it and it was fine. Left it at the old house though.  :(
