Post by: manicscousers on November 21, 2009, 14:39:54
got this cutting from maggie nearly 2 years ago, kept it in the poly overwinter last year, I've just re-potted it, can I leave it outside or does it need to be under cover  ???

My scented pelargoniums survive outside but then we're pretty much frost free here.  But they hate being wet overwinter so you need to make sure they are in rain shadow or a well-aired greenhouse otherwise they will go mouldy.

What scent does it have?  I always think of my grandma when I smell the rose-scented ones.

I love scented geraniums - does this one smell of lemons?

I forgot one outside once and it did survive a mild winter but the next winter was colder and it died.  It would be safer to bring it inside.

I've got P.Candy Dancer which is rose scented.  Happy so send you some cuttings if you like although I'm not entirely certain they'll take at this time of the year.  Failing that I could send you some next year?

What other scented ones are there?  ???

I've only got lemon, and I've just pruned it,

I take some of the bigger bits, trim them and stick 'em in a water filled jam jar on the kitchen windowcill. Pot the up when they start producing roots and away you go.

Most of the neighbourhood have had cuttings from me.  :)

I forgot all about that Mal ;D, glad to see it's doing well. Mine are huge now. I will only move them if the weather turns really cold, but then like Georgie we're pretty much frost free here too.
