sorry - it is working. I was expecting it to be a bit more comprehensive in what it didn't show me (if you know what I mean) Not something i've really used before, but i'm not in the mood to read troublemaking posts anymore

Yes, I do.  But having said that, I wish more people would use it!

Is it just me that cannot see it or is it shut up for the next viewer.

If you look in the bottom left-hand corner of any post, you'll see an Ignore button.  If you click on it, you'll no longer see any of the content of that person's posts in any thread.  You will still be able to see that they posted in the thread - their name will be in the list, but instead of the content of the post being shown, there will be a message that you currently have them on ignore.  You can unignore at any time by clicking the same button again.

Adding to what Ceres said there is no option to ignore admins or mods, if you want to ignore them you just don't bother reading their posts.

Sorry I didn't answer this earlier RT but I had you on ignore.  ;)
I don't bother with it, I find certain people quite funny, anyway I've got to get a free book somehow.     ;D ;D ;D

Can someone tell me why some posts have an ignore sign in the bottom left hand corner and some only have what appears to be a child's face and some green things?

You won't see the Ignore button on your own (can't ignore yourself  ;)) or on mods' posts (can't ignore us either  :P).  The 'child's face' is the View Profile button and the 'green things' is the PM button.

The other icons in the bottom left corner are:
(http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/Themes/classic/images/icons/profile_sm.gif) = view profile
(http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/Themes/classic/images/www_sm.gif) = visit website if they have one listed in their profile.
(http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/Themes/classic/images/email_sm.gif) = email, not present if they have chosen to hide the address.
(http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/Themes/classic/images/im_on.gif) = send a private message

Corrected...
Admins/mods don't have an ignore button under their avatar as you are not supposed to ignore them everyone else does however adding admin or mods names to the ignorelist in your profile does work if you want to ignore them (curiosity got the better of me).

Thankyou both.  I don't click on anything until I know what will happen.  Must be more adventurous.
