Title: Comfrey stalks
Post by: caroline7758 on August 02, 2009, 13:37:29
I cut down my comfrey for the second time today. As I was in a hurry, I didn't strip the leaves off the stalks, just laid the lot over a bare patch as a mulch. Does it matter?

No, but the stalks take longer to rot down...  :)

You can also run over them with a lawn mower to help break the stems down.

I just piled heaps around the bases of squash and tomatoes, the stalks do take a bit longer to rot down, but they do suppress weeds better like that  so a double benefit I think! 8)
