Title: What are these flies?
Post by: Sexki11en on July 25, 2009, 07:30:18
Hey guys,

Well, my chillis are doing great (apart from one incident where I nealry lost all 15 varieties to slugs!) but can anyone tell me what the hundreds of horrid little flies are around the soil and how I can get rid of them?

My conservatory is full!

I've had real problems with these the last two years in my house and greenhouse. I tried the biological control (hypoapsis) but itdidn't make much difference-maybe they need more than one treatment but I didn't want to spend any more! Have yet to see whether the roots have been damaged by larvae-they are all around my peppers and aubergines. I'm using sticky traps but will never catch them all.

They can't do much damage to larger plants, you would have to look after youngsters
