Title: cucumber Q's im a little confused?
Post by: mummybunny on June 09, 2009, 17:42:04
Not that its hard to confuse me mind  ;D

Before we went away on hols i planted some marketmore cucumbers outside that i had grown from seed. When i got back they had gone! Nothing to show for them at all! I figured i hadn't hardened them off well enough as they were covered with netting so don't think they were eaten!

So my OH surprised me with a few pots of cucumbers that he got from a veg shop for me on the way home from work. Thing is i thought you needed both male and female flowers to pollinate to make cucumbers. However the pots have a little label saying female. The man in the shop told him that he would get cucumbers off them is this right doesn't say anything about type of cucumbers but did mention that they needed support which i already have. So i don't think there a bush variety and I'm hoping there a outdoor type as i haven't got a greenhouse.

All it is saying on the label is female spot!!

Help  ;D ;D ;D Lucy
