Post by: alfie on May 07, 2009, 20:51:01
Hi all,

just a quickie...is it ok to compost rhubarb leaves.

I know they are toxic to eat but are they ok to recycle?? :)

If they're not then I've got a compost bin full of toxins!

I put them in an old bin of water and let them rot...the resulting smelly liquid certainly keeps the cabbage whites away. And everything else. Its a job I have to do as we leave and the wife goes home before me lol

 Thats great thanks all!

I especially like the idea of making the liquid bug repellant so it will kill two birds with one stone......or maybe several bugs..ha ha!  :D

I always do. I've never poisoned the compost bins yet.

Also i've been using them as a weed suppressant round my fruit trees...not sure whether it's a good idea or not does seem to stop the weeds.
