This morning I was sitting thinking ooOO "should I go to the allotment or should I do some piano practice ~~allotment or piano :-\ ....Which led me to think that I know you all love gardening/vegetable growing but what are your other hobbies! and what hobby takes priority!

Well the allotment takes up almost all of our time but we do have a koi pool at home and our house rabbits. I did used to paint but don't have the time now.

My other hobby used to be playing in a brass band. Left the band last Oct, which gives us more time for the Lottie. Have played since I was 6 and have never not been active in the movement until end of last year. Have to say I am quite enjoying the break. It's quite heavy going at times and very time consuming. Very good socially though and has given me alot of opportunities throughout life.

On the PC mostly blogging or here and reading, but only when I'm not on the allotment plotting, pondering or pottering!

Distance running and scuba diving.

Playing tennis, walking with the Ramblers, either in UK or abroad. Reading, jigsaw puzzles, knitting, rug making, crossword puzzles (in the winter) and entering competitions and never winning, live in hope. Looking after grandchildren, talking to the cat. Watching my seeds grow, and prodding them about too much. Listening to LBC whilst washing up (which annoys OH). Watching old episodes of 'Heartbeat', 'on the buses' and some programmes on TV. Enjoyed Rebecca. I think the allotment usually gets preference, but it is quite good to give it a break for a few days and then the plants are really grown (and the weeds).

I just love caravans. Nearly bought one when my mother died and left me some money. Caravans, greenhouses and tents are just so exciting. Clothes I find extremely boring, but everyone to their own taste. Wanted a caravan on a site near the sea, but a small site and couldn't quite find the perfect spot, also was a bit put off by the ground rent. The ones I liked were too far away from London where we live. Saw some lovely log cabins but they were nearly as dear as a house.

I do Family History along with transcribing files for FreeBMD and LancashireBMD :)
Plus listening to all kinds of music from Queen to Classics.Just got a caravan at Boton le Sands.

We've got a small motorhome so we like to get over to France and hopefully winter trips to
Spain.
Lots of motorhome events in the UK through the summer in between planting and weeding Allotment.

Julie's other half here (otherwise known as the bloke who digs :P ). Other than giving myself a bad back, I coach athletics, help out with my daughter's footy team and practice full contact karate (got my 2nd dan grading coming up). As for finding time for the lotty, now the mornings are lighter, I do an hour or two before work. Digging at 6am seems somehow more rewarding.....or am I just a little mad? ;D

Not a hobby, but just as enjoyable - I am a volunteer with a stroke group - run by the Stroke Association to help people who have difficulties with communication after a stroke. I'm the IT wizard, so spend a lot of time on line and helping people out who don't have antivirus software or don't know what Windows Updates are.
I also work full time (sort of) but as I work for myself I can more or less decide when to work, though the hours I can't change are when the weather is lovely and I would prefer to be on the allotment. I get free time when it's raining and cold. Grrrr.

Just tonight in fact, picked up my soldering iron and started stained glass again after a break of 15+ years.............kids got in the way ;D

I am a paranormal investigator, I run a paranormal group in South Wales and also designed the website for it (self taught) and maintain it when its needed. I used to horse ride. I play the flute, but just at home, never got round to joining band or orchestra and am very out of practice with it. I used to give free computer lessons to elderly people in their homes (until one old guy kept asking me how to find porn whenever his wife left the room!!!). Uni studies seem to take up most of my time unfortunately :(

Main main hobby is photography but its also my job :D in my spair time i repair old cars, and my not so old mondeo lol. i did used to be into bikes, but crashed and wife wont let me no more.

Reading, love biographies, true stories and modern history. Apart from gardening and now and again a little housework rest of time taken up with visits from 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren :)

Wow what a variety of interests you lot have! I do a bit of country walking, and cycling, and am interested in art and photography. Have dabbled in stained glass but havent got the space at home, so might have to build another shed :D
Used to count computers as a hobby.. until I started working as an IT technician which has dampened my enthusiasm somewhat. Posie I laughed at your IT teaching experience... had similar when I tried to top up my earnings visiting people at home. The (fortunately elderly and harmless) guy hadnt turned off the 'autocomplete' feature that displayed every internet search he had ever made, most of which were looking for Russian brides. TAXI!!!

For me it depends on the time of year, I’m a late convert to skiing (health permitting) and would love to do more dinghy sailing but find that’s too tough on my back these days (and besides the water round this island is bloomin cold!)
Other than that it has to be HOLIDAYS – I’m really good at them ;D 8)

Debating................well, at least it used to be when people still spoke to me. ;D I had an unfortunate childhood, and at a young age became misanthropic. It seemed to me it was in my own interest to observe and learn all the tricks people use to get their own way, so I could ensure my independence and avoid further abuse. I developed a habit of always taking any stance contrary to what was being said by others, simply to get an argument going.
Now I have taken up self hypnosis. I have cured my perfectionism, and now I am working on my cynicism and misanthropy. :)
Oh, and I nearly forgot........................brewing ale. Living overseas I cannot just go to a pub and buy a pint of real ale, so I brew my own. I have toned down my India Pale Ale recipe, and now have a very fine ordinary light ale. I have tried wine making, but I don't have the patience for it. Maybe self-hypnosis wold help with that too!

Well all other hobbies have to be on rainy days so i make necklaces out of buttons and wire, i make shopping bags out of the saris i get at oxfam, and i paint portraits with acrylics and every day of course i throw a hundred balls for my obsessed collie jake and have a walk on thebeach near blackpool!

Another caravanner here. We have a 13 year old tourer and like going to France but also enjoy our UK holidays.
I am also a family History researcher (there seems to be a lot of us on here!). I enjoy crosswords, reading and playing games on the computer. I could murder the person on here that introduced me to "Popword". Just joking; I think it keeps the mind active! ;D ;D
Nearly forgot, I have recently taken up sea fishing again, from the shoreline and piers, but I haven't caught anything yet.

My greyhounds take up a lot of my time and are hugely enjoyable so I guess they come within the definitions of a hobby. I also have a little hobby blog about the hound and allotment.
I've just bought hubby a telescope so I think I might elbow him out of the way and take up astronomy too ;)

Reading, walking and collecting natural crystals. I also like reading and finding out about all things paranormal, as I find it fascinating to learn about experiences that people have that just don't quite fit in the 'normal' range of things.

Flying (Private Pilot), travelling, in the Far East mainly, playing darts and fishing are my main hobbies, but the garden is taking up most of my time at the moment.

Gosh - I used to do load of things - Dinghy Sailing, Mountain Climbing, Cycling, Running, Skiing. then I had children and they all stopped .... took up the Lottie 2 years back and it fits around them better than any on the above ;)
Now they are 6 and 4 so we are just starting to get out and about again. It seems like the whole world opens up to you when you don't have to ask if they need a wee every half an hour ;D !

Pippy, as they get older your next hobby will be taking your children to various parties, sports things etc. etc. then when they are teenagers sitting at home worrying that they are out, or if they are in worrying they have no friends and staying in. I think the toilet thing every half hour is better than sitting up all night waiting for a phone call to collect them or worse than that no phone call.

I shall enjoy them now while I can Borlotti!! I also have two step daughters of 18 and 26 so have seen the teen years.
