Title: Advice needed
Post by: shirlton on April 18, 2009, 09:16:36
As most of you know,Last year I lost all my onions, leeks and garlic to the alium moth. I am wondering if it would be safe to take the enviromesh off today to weed the onions or will the moth get in.

I would have thought those moths move about at night rather than in the daylight. So removing the mesh should not be a problem.

No doubt someone will no more about the alium moth

I just "googled" and read that that most moths are nocturnal.

I looked on Tee Gees gardeners almanac and it said that they first bash is in May so took the bull by the horns and went for it. You have never seen an onion bed weeded so fast. I was like a blue assed fly. Covers off weed and covers back on in a trice. watered with nettle brew what a pong. just hope that the flies don't like it either.
