Title: Aquiring new ground
Post by: Mrs Soup on March 30, 2009, 22:15:10
Here's a question - has anyone got experience of extending their allotment site?

All the sites in a 5 mile radius are bulging at the seams, however, there's a space behind our site which is unused and overgrown. I think we may get another 4 plots on it.

Any ideas where to start?

I don't know but just love your name, Mrs Soup.  Conjures up images of lovely home made soup, makes me feel hungry.

To find out who owns it, you can do an online search at the Land Registry for a nominal fee of £3, I think.  You don't need an address or postcode for it, you can just click on the map to zoom in on it.

Thanks for the pointers. I'll have a go at the land registry
