Title: Corny's off on his travels
Post by: cornykev on March 27, 2009, 18:10:36
Hi all its time for my hols, at easter I will be going on a med cruise, flying to Palma and stopping at Sicily, Naples, Livorno, Cannes and Barcelona. Has anyone been on this type of hols and is it worth booking the trip or doing your own thing when you dock, and before anyone says it I haven't been away for a while.  ;)     ;D ;D ;D

One of my friends went on one of these cruises in September, she loved it.  She didn't book the trip's they did their own thing.

She is booking the Carribean this year, she thought the cruise was so good.

Have a lovely time.

We went round the med in 97.

We booked all the trips,Had to get up really early in the morning in order to have breakfast before we went. This was hard as the entertainment was very good and did not get to bed until late.

I think it is better to go on the trips  :)

Have a great time

You can eat till you drop on a cruise,be prepared to diet when you get back.

Take your own travel sickness tabs, they cost a lot on board ship.

You may need them.We had one night when sea was very heavy.

Walk and sway. ;D

When the gin on shore is 5 euros a litre it is a bast@rd when they search you when you go back on board and you have to pay £3.50 a shot.I always had a litre of 'water ' in mothers handbag. ;)

Hi all, I've been back on dry land for a few days now and was loving the cruise very much, loads of all inclusive Stella's and cocktails and not to mention the great food, a bit of gambling in the casino, visiting the Nou camp, the leaning tower of Pisa, wandering around Cannes with all them lovely yachts and wandering round the streets of Sicily at Easter with a parade of all the church goers in their hundreds with the Bishop at the rear in all his glory.  ;D ;D ;D

OK Hosta you asked for it, get yourself a cuppa and have a read.
Booked with Island cruises and went on the ship Island Escape and the trip was called the Mediterranean Spirit.
Cost of hols £699 for 1 week.
Payed an extra all inclusive upgrade for drinks at £42, yes I'm still trying to get my head round that, so it was all the Stella's and cocktails I could drink up to 2am. ;)
Flew to Palma and caught the ship from there.
Sailed to Sicily-Messina, didn't go on the trip there just had a wander for a few hours, really nice there.
Naples was the next stop, the traffic was really crazy there and it was a bit windy and we had a drop  of rain.
Livorno was next and we went on a trip to Pisa and that was really nice there and it was a lovely day. 8)
Then on to Cannes and another great day.
Barcelona was the last stop and we went to visit the Nou Camp and then the coach went on a tour of the city on the way back and found that more interesting than the football tour, then me and the other half went for a wander around the the town and it was another sunny day.  8)
The staff on the boat were the most friendly I have ever encountered in all my 25 years of holidaying abroad.
The food was by far the best I have ever had on holiday and some of them Greek Taverna's over the years take some beating. :P
The entertainment was great, Comedians, soul singers, resident group, Elvis artist, variety shows, even had bingo. :o
Had a bit of a dabble in the casino. :-X
Cocktails by day,  sat on the deck watching the world go by.
Would recomend it to anyone.
Waiting for the brochure on Thursday to book next years holiday.
Different stops should be great.
 ;D ;D ;D
