Have followed Jades ' story ' in the last few weeks.   Feel very sad that she has passed away,

I liked her a lot, she was naive and made mistakes  --  like most of us have during our lives.

but she always made me smile.

No matter what you think of her, for anyone to die at that age and for two little kids to lose their mum is very sad.

and that is exactly what i tried to get across to some this weekend, i neither liked or disliked her but i kept thinking of the emotional pain she endured knowing she won't be physically there for her boys and of course i feel for her boys they are so young to have to grow up without their mum. a sad time for anyone to experience RIP young mum and god bless the little ones and all her love ones.

thifasmom I know what you mean. Someone that works with my OH started saying how discusting it she was for televising the whole thing. She was only trying to provide a future for her children. I too would do the same given the opportunity. Her children will be able to see how much of a fighter she was and the smiles they brought to her face in her final days. Brings a lump to my throat to even think of leaving my children behind at such a young age. I too booked my smear test as a result, the letter had been sat on a shelf since October just one of those things i didn't get around to booking.

She has made allot of woman pull there fingers out and book themselves in including me. You just think it wont happen to me and now i realize how silly having that attitude is.

Rest in peace Jade and all my love to your boy's and loved ones. Hope they find the strength that you had in abundance. xxx

Yes it is all very sad. :(

I am so glad that her legacy was to raise the importance of the smear test.

Not my favourite date on the calender but soon done with.

Ditto that cornykev - deeply sad and also brings back memories of losing loved ones over the years and showing what they were going though.

Jade's indirect legacy is a good one.

I think she was a very brave lady to do all that while she was dying.. for whatever reason, impossible to judge her, but perhaps focusing on the publicity made dying easier for her, after all it was her death and so perhaps she was the best person to orchestrate it

Jade did Panto here in Lincoln at Christmas,

She was interviewed on local radio and came across as a lovely, enthusiastic, vibrant woman who wanted to do her best and not let anyone down at the theatre, but had to keep going for chemo which took days to get over, so eventually she had to pull out.

She needed to keep busy, as she said ' I've got too much to live for, I've got two beautiful boys and I love life'.

For her to die on Mothers Day was terribly sad./ shades x

It is very sad indeed , for a woman of her age to die of cancer particularly as it could have been prevented by correct procedure of the test results.
I am so sad for her children. :'(

What has made me so angry yesterday & today. The newspapers all of them never had a good word for her until she was seriously ill, now its Ohhhhh, we love you Jade.  REALLY.
She was who she was, bless her not very bright but very likeable girl. RIP.

Please let us remember all the other people who have cancer also & say a prayer for them.

By strange coincidence I was driven right by her house yesterday when we got a bit lost doing a transfer to a hospital in Essex. We didn't realise it was her house until later, but wondered why there were vehicles with blacked out windows clogging up a lane...the paparazzi of course.... waiting for what I don't know.

I also feel she was extremely brave to allow such publicity of her situation, which sometimes made very uncomfortable viewing, such as when she lost her hair after chemotherapy and was obviously upset. Her instinct to try and protect her children and provide for them after her death is entirely admirable, however she chose to accomplish it.

I totally agree with Robert Brenchley, lack of education does not mean someone is thick, she was brave, lively and energetic and made the most of the opportunities given to her - something we could all learn from.  I wasn't a fan particularly but have been very moved by her sad story.  RIP

Desperately sad that Jade had to suffer so much but hoping, as her family will be, that it will make a great difference in the uptake of the HPV vaccine that is now ofered to the under 25's.

She may not be thick, but certainly had severe lack of general knowledge back in 2002 on BB2. So exactly where is East Angular ?

Her drunken strip poker escapade still remains one of the BB most funniest moments.

Not to mention her London Marathon training - eating curries and drinking a lot in the runup.

i had my *jade* today and asked why its not available to under 25s,my nurse said its cos at that age, girls are still vulnerable to the HPV virus, which by defintion could and nearly always does, cure itself,so kids were getting treatment for abnormal cells when they didnt need it,hence the change in age requirements, will be interested on feed back from this, but, not being OTT as i wasnt the biggest fan,but she did give me a kick up the bum to get mine done,a year late, oops, and for that im grateful.
RIP jade,with thanks

I don't think she was thick, just uneducated. They're not the same thing.

Thatsmy thinking too!

The sad thing in all this is that she knew she was uneducated and wanted to make sure her boys had a better chance in life!

Who can knock that?

I don't hear people criticising the enequal education in this country!  It's all very well for the likes of David Cameron to spout on about people doing well if they try hard and want it enough...........it must be a whole lot easier when you go to Eton!  The education system is a bl**dy shambles!

I criticise the stupid education system no end. If the government would just give schools the money they need to do the job properly, and let them get on with it, we could still be world class.

It was nothing, and I deleted it to keep the peace but already regret deleting it. Old Angel Shades must've been having an early bank holiday tipple.

I said that I didn't think it was all that bad. I said she was racist, it is a shame for her kids, and I'm glad that the telly won't be full of hysteria over a racist who delighted in being ignorant.

There are worse things. 200 odd people die in an earthquake, that's a tragedy. 1,000 Palestinian civilians killed as we (Britain) sit around doing nothing (apart from selling the weapons), that's a tragedy. A racist, ignorant bigot dieing with those she loved around her, from a natural but horrible death just isn't all that much of a tragedy.
Title: Re: jade goody
Post by: lushy86 on April 10, 2009, 20:23:09
Ollie, tragedy isn't measured by scale.  Those things you talk about are indeed tragedies there are many in this world.  A young mother dying and leaving young kids behind is a tragedy whether it is Jade Goody or a mother dying of aids in Africa.

I think she learned a great deal from the 'race' experience and learning life lessons in public must be a hard thing to do.  Don't you think that people can learn and change?  She clearly wanted her children to be better educated than she was?

However, you should be entitled to your opinion without being called nasty and made to feel that you have to remove your posts.

I felt that was about class more than race.
Title: Re: jade goody
Post by: sawfish on April 10, 2009, 21:04:19
Jade was mixed race herself, so any racism was just Jade saying daft stuff. I never disliked her but she was always an obvious target for the fickle press.

Young people could relate to her because she was genuine, warts and all. An unusual thing on TV nowadays.

She'll have a continuing big and positive effect on smear tests.

Anyway sometimes 'educated' people are the most devious users of them all. Knowledge can be used in selfish ways to keep people down and therefore you 'up'.

I lost someone I loved recently from cancer, and every time I read about Jade Goody it brings it all back. I have never seen BB and have no opinion on the racist allegations, but I applaud her for having the guts and the nous to invite the media in. Had she not done this they would have hounded her anyway, camping outside the hospital pestering relatives, asking whether she was dead yet.

Its amazing how people can change opinion to suit the mood, before she got cancer nobody gave two hoots about Jade and most thought the same as Ollie wrote here but once she was diagnosed she was the worlds best friend, very strange!

I know what you mean. I just think she was portrayed as horrible by the press due to her naivity rather than actually being a particularly horrible person.

Personally I find people like Philip Schofield or Richard Madeley more horrible due to their smarmy TV personalities. Nobody notices them though cause they 'fit in'.

Naive, ignorant and a totally '' open and honest person '', prey to TV and the media,

vunerable in adverse situations  --  B B, a set up if ever I saw one !

For the first time since her passing, I watched a programme when Jade opened

her Beauty Salon and a trip she went on - to Dubai, ' is it in India ' ! even her boyfriend at the time

didn't know !  She came out with a laughing remark about ' poppadoms ! she had no concept of

   what rascism was !

I don't know what I would have done in her shoes,  to not hold and be able to smell my babbies

at bathtime again -      The lady had guts  -  enough for me.

Smiffy, you crack me up! Nobody's ever accused me of being pc... still, at least you talk about it when we disagree, instead of the childish personal attack followed by the ignore button angle went for! A little melodramatic, methinks.  ::) but no big deal. And it would be a very boring world if everyone thought the same.

I assume you're referring to Zimbabwe. Someone needs to sort out that particular monster urgently, but after having occupied the country for a couple of generations, we're not the people to do it!

Ollie,
I know from your previous posts in the past that you are a caring person but to say what you have done about JG now that she is dead and buried well I'm very surprised at you, personally she did the Indian actress a favour by making her famous with the racist insult she came out with, now I'm led to believe  that she is going to appear in Eastenders(whatever that is, I don't watch telly dribble), :)

The lack of world action in Zimbabwe with what Mugabe has done to that country and its people should have had the worlds leaders sending in thousands of troops years ago and the only reason I can see for that not happening its because its part of Africa.

It's about time we stopped this habit of invading other peoples' countries all the time. It comes off occasionally with the right leadership - Sierra Leone was one of the few successes - but look at Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Mostly it does far more harm than good.

Nobody trades with Zimbabwe these days so I can't see that being the reason.

I agree we shouldn't invade other countries but equally we shouldn't let people die while we do nothing!
