I like to buy some enviromesh to cover some cloches I'm making out of waterpipe hoops.
Where is the best place to buy some
Is there different thicknesses or anything I should be aware of when buying

Lots of people use debris netting as it is cheaper than Enviromesh

Lots of building sites will give you debris netting free once they have finished with it.  You just need to be cheeky and ask!

I use the white fleece to cover my veg, better to look around the garden centres b4 ordering any, i got mine from dobbies, 6.99 each for 2m wide by 10m long, they also do it at about 69p a meter.

Take care when you are buying fleece.

There are basically two types spun & woven.

In my opinion 'spun' is rubbish and doesn't last five minutes and tears very easily.

Whereas woven will last for years with care, you can even stick it in the washing machine if you wanted to.

Not that I have done.....the wife won't let me!  :-[

I lashed out on some environmesh last year and am very pleased with it.  It's tough and it does what it says on the tin - keeps the pests out and lets water and air in.

Lauren     glad you asked this question.  But £32 for 50 metres!    I only want about 1/2 that.   Anyone know where I can get less.

i just bought the debris netting off Ebay (see link above) after looking at environmesh and how much you get for the price. If I find I have too much I can sell it to someone else. I ordered it yesterday choosing the cheaper delivery and it arrived this morning.

No problems with it, still going strong - a bit grubby but I don't feel the need to put it in the washing machine :o

The standard mesh size is good enought to keep Ms Carrot fly away as well as the Cabbage White and all but the most determined flea beetles.

Debris netting works well for brassicas - never tried for carrots as I have the mesh.  I would think that as long as you don't stretch the netting too tightly, it should work fine.

I've just had a delivery from www.gardening-naturally.com - really friendly & quick delivery. It's available in different widths and you can order by the metre.

Don't want to sound like a twit here  ??? but does the enviromesh need to be raised or can it be draped over the bed and secured with pegs? Does it go on when you sow the seeds or when they are seedlings? Thanks!!

Hope its ok to resuss this thread. Does enviromesh and the builders mesh allow light in for young growth...or is it a case of bunging on once established?

Does it lie flat on top of crop or is it "attach to a frame job"???

Yes,I had no probs with butterflies just the odd white fly that found a way it through  gaps I had left

Thanks thats ideal. We were decimated by caterpillars last season...with no exaggeration, they were so abundant they were climbing up house walls to first floor bedroom windows...daughter now has a thing about them :(

On  ebay there are different colour debris mesh...are all ok?

Im a 100% convert to debris netting. Ive made frames out of pallets 2.2m x 1.2 m x 600mm covered in it. Its stops all bugs stone dead. You put diatomacous earth round the plants as well and there bullet proof unless a rabbit actually burrows in.

Do you find the two metre width of scaffold netting is big enough to cover big things or is 3 m better please?

2m is good for a single row, mine are usually done with 20mm water pipe hoops.
If you want to cover larger areas or double rows, 3m is better.

I use both.  :)
