Title: Cambria and Syngronanthus Chrysanthus (Mikado)
Post by: posie on January 08, 2009, 17:28:58
Bought these from Ikea yesterday, the Cambria I believe to be some kind of orchid, although a v peculiar one and the other just looked weird!  Although they have care instructions on them, they don't have what type of soil to use to repot them, they're in very small pots and I'd like to put them in bigger ones.  Anyone got an idea?

I don't know much about orchids but I'm sure I read or heard somewhere that they don't like being in too large a pot. I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows more about them Posie

Well, after much trawling of tinternet, I've discovered that the Mikado likes to be humid and in a substrate medium - what the heck is that?!  Not ordinary soil obviously.

As for the orchids, well I've discovered why I killed my last two off, over-watering and rotted the roots.  As for soil, there are three types apparently but you're right Shirlton they do like to be a little cramped apparently.  Ah well, we live and learn!  ;D
