My brother had one of the plant in his garden,
not sure edible? ??? not edible ???
I don't know what it is ???
please help

Chaenomeles japonica
Ornamental Quince. Yes the fruit are edible but are probably best made into jam/jelly because they are very hard to bite.

The seeds/pips contain cyanide so must be removed for safety otherwise it is used mostly for jam and jelly.

A quince or two cooked in apple crumble make a great flavour.
