Anybody know of any decent (i.e. cheap) timer merchants in the Leeds (West Yorkshire) area where I could get some wood suitable for building some raised beds.
I know there is B&Q and Wickes but always feel there is a premium to pay and anyway I'm not after anything too posh.

Hi
Some of the reccers yards have wood at bargain prices, particularly if you don't mind it still having a few nails in. Will try and find teh name of the one we use.

As a former Forestry worker, I am very much against wasting timber by putting in the ground to rot. Most trees take a 100 years to grow. Put the timber in the ground and it will rot in a tenth of that time. Beds can be managed without using timber.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the farming of timber, it's a crop like anything else. The only thing is that it is more long term, instead of one year you are looking at 100 to 500 years depending on the species.
