Certainly some different and interesting stuff. Have bookmarked. Going to take a nice long look tomorrow. Have you bought from them Georgie?

Nice to have a recommendation (after my mistake of last year)
-
Just had a delivery of seeds from them, a present for my nephew. Unfortunately they sent a catalogue, which my son got hold of ... ... ... ... ... oh dear ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Someone called? ;D
Can heartily recommend them, Lorna, as a customer of several years now. The 25% off deal ends on the 30th Sept, so get in quick (i.e. before I do)
;D

I got a catalogue and just had to buy some stuff.... tall corn, purple millet, giant sunflowers ... :-X

Amazin, due to a mad weekend (Georgie don't tell about the photos!!!!) I haven't been logged on this week as much as usual. On top of that my computor has died. Son thinks it is the powerpack so has lent me his spare lap top until he has time to sort it. Flipping mouse pad has a will of it's own :'(. I am now going to have a long look at Jungle Seeds site.

Is that the 'giant Mexican sweetcorn' you are looking at there Amazin?
I have grown that this year from 'jungle seeds'. More info if you want it.

Hi lbb,
Well to start with I didn't know much about growing sweetcorn and made a couple of big mistakes. I thought I was being clever and started them early in peat pots. They were in the pots about seven weeks before I planted them out and from planting they just didn't do anything for about five weeks. I have since found out, thanks to jeannine, that they should have no longer than three weeks in the pot before planting, I effectively stopped them growing the way I did it. Also the ground was not manured beforehand and they were never fed once planted.
The plants are now about 7/8 ft tall with between 2 and four cobs on each. The cobs are about 12" long and seem to be at the halfway ready stage, I do not know if there is enough time left for them to mature properly.
If I had germinated later and planted out before the three weeks were up, they would have had an extra five weeks to grow instead of their growth being stopped by my inexperience. Also with manure and feeding they would probably grown taller and quicker. Hope that's a little insight for next year for you.

We should launch a giant corn competition LBB as I have some as well!!
;D

How are yours doing saddad?
Robbo.

I have some seeds but have left them till next season. Besides my Minipop baby sweetcorn plants are always pretty darn tall - much taller than full size corn varieties. Weird! :o
-

i will have a camera by then as well :)
sooo who wants to play and what shal we do, tallest plant, longest cob?
(ugggh i havent mannaged corn yet)
lbb
-
Why not? Bet I win longest cob, though - I can sulk for AGES.
;D

At last I have managed to place my seed order, I made several attempts and was beginning to panic. I put it down to trying to use this lap top but in fact it was my stupidity ::) son John came to my rescue. Haven't ordered anything unusual but looking forward to trying their seeds.
-
What did you get Lorna?
-
Hi Amazin, all non edibles, but thought a couple would be good as cut flowers for the Cemetery. Here goes.
JS 959...Acanthus
JS323...Agapanthus
JS2177 Campanula
Js2182 ditto again
JS2145 Aster
Js2147 ditto again

A nice selection there, Lorna, but do watch out for the slimy beasties!
My order arrived today. ;D I got Asclepias incarnata, Clitoria ternatea, French Marigold 'Hero', Heliotrope 'Marine', Passiflora edulis and Thunbergia fragrans. I thought that was very retrained (for me). ;)

I really wish they would rename this plant.
OK lbb, I am up for a challenge with the sweetcorn. Bit of a waste this year with the crap weather, but hoping for better results next year.

Georgie. Just seen your post. I thought it might help if I kept repeating your suggestion but every time I sit on my sofa that flipping catalogue is there on my stool, it seems to be saying...I bet you can't resist another peep!!!!!
