Title: Laptop
Post by: pntalbot on July 29, 2008, 08:08:57
Just got a Toshiba Laptop Equium 350 and want to know, how can you configure, to use an external keyboard. I have bought a USB adaptor and when connected, thought Laptop would see this keyboard as a device --it doesn`t.
Any Ideas please.

What type of adapter are you using?
Have you tried plugging it into a different usb port?

This is a passive adapter that simply changes the plug shape to match the outlet. These adapters only function to connect the ps/2 wires to the approximate USB wires. They do not always work with some keyboards & rarely work on newer computers. One like this has to be purple if used with a keyboard the green ones only work with mice.

This is a ps/2 to USB signal converter. These devices use an integrated circuit (pre-programmed chip) to actively translate the ps/2 keyboard signal and convert it into a USB keyboard signal. A converter like this should work fine.
