Title: Edible Wild Flowers for Meadow
Post by: woodypecks on July 24, 2008, 15:22:21
I want to know which wild plants are safe to sow/plant into a hay meadow .  a) Ones that are cattle/horse friendly .  b) Ones that are not going to take over my field .   and c) Ones that look pretty.
Also...... how can I get rid of Dock plants !
                                                                    Thankyou

I used to use the sweepings out of a hay barn if I wanted a wild lawn. You would be surprised at the variety of seeds there are in the sweepings. Also being a hay barn all the nasties have been removed years ago as farmers usually pull plants that are likely to poison their livestock.

You could spray with aminopyralid.

Dig them out. Or paint them with glyphosate.

Thankyou....I will try and dig out as many as I can.....and then use glyphosphate on the rest.  We "harvested " as many of the flower stalks as we could before they went to seed . They are tough weeds .
