Title: Finally!
Post by: bananagirl on August 06, 2004, 10:27:08
After what seems like months of watching and waiting and watering and feeding and cursing (the slugs and snails), I have a red tomato! ;D Can't wait for all the rest to follow along.

Tomato salad, tomato soup, tomato sauce, tomato, tomato, tomato!

And I grew them all from seeds...makes me wonder where my black thumbs have gone.

I got one too!  ;D  Well, not a red one, but a yellow Golden Queen.  Thing is, it is a plant that was dumped out of doors, and is in the shade most of the day!

If all mine ripen, I'm going to perfect my red sauce, and freeze it for the winter.

I made a Hashwa last night which is a rice based dish and used My ripe Toms & Spinach.. along with a few other houshold ingredients..  It was fantastic and me and the misses nearly came to blows over the last bit in the saucepan..

Yes I will... I am not sure why its called that but my nan was from India and I believe thats where it came from.!!

The one I made last night was not a real Hashwa (Actually pronounced HUSHWA)  But just a thrown together quickie which the rest of the family said tastes just like it...I'll post the full recipe on the Board when I get a spare Mo...
