Amaryllis don't flower at Christmas naturally, but around about April-May. The longer you have a bulb, the closer it gets to its natural flowering time, although this normally means that they flower a bit later after Xmas every year. Yours seems to have taken a big step in one go.

My daughter was given one at Xmas and it flowered as stated on th pack.

I have never had one before and put it in the greenhouse and watered it as it still had green leaves, thinking that I was building up the bulb.

It is now growing strongly and like yours will flower shortly.
