Title: Questions
Post by: Nobbyman on August 05, 2004, 13:21:48
Hi all!!  ;)

Sorry to be a pain but I'm new to this gardening lark!!

I've been reading all about your wonderful sunflowers - mine are really high 2.0m plus but there are no signs of flower heads ??? Is this normal are they late season sunflowers??

Also I have just taken some cuttings from a couple of nice geranium plants that my mum has - is this the right time of year??

hI NOBBY yes you can take cuttings this time of year, they should be fine don`t let them dry out OR get soggy. just moist will do .
good luck with them, you will have to take them indoors for the winter.  Rosie. ;D

I would just add one point about geranium cuttings Nobbyman, when I take mine I put them in multi-purpose compost with sand mixed in to aid root growth and then put a layer of sand on top of the compost to stop the base of the cuttings from getting too damp and rotting off.  Dont water them too often, just when the leaves go a bit limp.
