I have done the worst thing in the world, I tried to search the internet for information on carrott flies, and now i'm totally confused! lol! I read that if I pull the larger tops (to encourage root growth) that it can encourage carrott fly from miles around! Any advice much appreciated!
Thank you in advance x

Personally I only grow carrots in autumn, avoids the problem all together.

Or under fleece... they do like the smell of carott foilage bruised by handling on a warm evening... so you should be totally safe this year!!! ;D

This is my first year of growing anything! So when I got my greenhouse, very kindly given to me by my Mother in law, i got a bit too excited and went out and bought supermarket seeds, and planted everything! LOL! I now know that i need to do a bit more research and buy more pots! My Green Beans are doing very well, and so are my toms (i think) The carrotts are growing well in the tubs, i did post on here to see if you could grow them in tubs and the responce was a yes! However they are still stuck in my greenhouse as i am unsure as to bring them outside or not!

If they're in tubs, put the tubs somewhere high, apparently the carrot fly can only fly low.

my tubs are about 3ft off the ground. Just noticed a small attack on a couple of carrots in the last few weeks

I second this.
That's the beauty of growing in pots, you can move them around accordingly.

I've had no problems whatsoever with carrot fly so far this season.
However, if the carrots germinate...
;D

Ive put cut up bits of onion or garlic (the ends we dont eat) and when I chop down the chives. I snip them along the carrot rows......seems to help.
