Hello
I have house ants every summer. I spray fly killer on them. It stops them for a while, but they come back in summer. What shall I do? :( >:(

We always use Nippon Ant Killer - puff a thin trail of it all around the room extremities - & outside the house. One dose usually sufices.
No point in spraying them.

Nippon also do an "Ant control system" which has a little bait station which you put near the area affected and just leave it. We've used this for the first time this year and not seen an ant inside since.

Nope - Not so silly, but outside rather than indoors ::) I have a flame gun (one of those jobbies from Lidl with a 3 foot tube). I pushed it right up aganst the crack between the wall and the path where ants were piling out of, and blew flames down inside. Not a single ant since. Next door's probably got the pesky lil critters now:D
Mind you, before that I used nematodes and that was seriously good after about 4 treatments.

ants apparently don't like mint a colleague puts a mint plant inside and out to deter them ::)

trouble is, according to Ray's mum (89,been fighting ants for 60 years), if you persecute them outside, they go indoors :)

I use the spray in a red can from RAID. I know, not good for me or the environment, but it's sandy soil here & they've probably been around here longer than our Victorian terrace, but if I don't catch the ones on exploratory duty, I can come down the next morning to the furniture parading down the hall towards the door ( & they always find my mum's gorgeous home made jam) :(

A bit of jam mixed with borax is good, put underneath a stone or something so the rain doesn't get onit or the bees eat it. They take it back to the nest and feed the other ants with it, then they all die.

That nippon gel, in a tube. The ants take it back to the nest and the whole colony goes to sleep. For ever.
You may need to put a little down every night, in the same place for a few days for them. But it does clear the nest.
Don't squash them while you have poisons out. The sneaky blighters go somewhere else once they know that the trail is dangerous to walk.

I use a spray called Deathlac - you spray it in a strip on the floor or wall where they're coming in and bingo no more ants! Once it dries it's non-harmful to pets or kids.

Have you found the nest, MIL had them in her bed room wall and they were everywhere when we pulled the skirting board there was just black underneath there was so many and had to get something injected into the wall to kill them. After 2 years and 6 treatments the ants are gone.

I find putting on big shoes (size 13 or 13) and stamping on them works too. ;D

I poured the neat lavender oil down the hole. I know that we are not supposed to use it neat on our bodies (only in a carrier oil because it is too strong) perhaps its the same with ants.Tony took a carpet door strip up last year and the eggs were all underneath. I nearly died.

Neat peppermint essential oil also works (I have poured it directly where I want it or spread it over the floor/skirting board with a cloth) and I think Tea tree oil is another one that can be used to eradicate house ants. As shirlton says try not to get the above oils on your skin unless they have been diluted as they are very strong.

My shoes are not that big!!! Just size 4, so it would be a big shop to keep stamping on them. :D :D

The nest hole is behind a big fridge I can not move on my own!!! So, I can not get access to it !!!! :-\ :-\

Could you not put a few drops of peppermint oil on cotton wool or kitchen roll and slide it under the fridge?
