sorry about the third one, can't use 2 hands at once ;D
-
they're absolutely brill!!
-
I think I like the orange one best, a few more are just starting to flower, I think they're my favourite flower :)
-
Lovely. ;D I think this year has to be the year of the Aquilegia, I've never known them to be so good. My McKanas and still in bud but I snapped this 'Vulgaris' yesterday. It's a shame the seeds don't come true to type in normal conditions though. G x

Manics I'd say your first two are McKana's Hybrids. Not sure about the last one though.

here's another couple from today :)
-
This is a self set in my garden.
-
ooo, that's pretty, our self seeded is the normal pink and a couple i planted last year :)
-
Well, Manic - you've really made my day!!
Always thought that our 'cloud' of wild ones was nice, but a bit dull. Never really took the time to turn them face up.
So - went straight out & saw with new eyes. First, the 'cloud' [attachment=1]
Then my worker's finger nails - just been planting Peppers! No time to re-do the out-of-focus ones.
-
wow, you've got some beautiful colours there, Tim, I like the dark coloured one..daren't show my fingernails, been transplanting cabbage ;D
-
i think those are fab tim very pretty! mine are more like frogs legs, also self set ones, same colour but slightly different shape, definately doubles tho not singles and definately pink, and by god i hate pink! dd whos 2 loves them tho, so theyre most definately hers!
-
A better one of the 'cloud'?
-
I tried to get some snaps like your's Tim but they were all out of focus. :( Never mind, took this one instead. :) G x

I have at least 20 varieties in my garden - you might want to check out 'black barlow' - it is an almost black version of the traditional 'nora barlow' - not in full flower yet but I'll try and remember to post a pic when it is - love them all
-
I've just bought a Black Barlow it is lovely! Mine is flowering though I'll try and take a pic later!

that would be lovely - another special is viridiflora which is another almost black and green - difficult ones to keep are the yellow ones for some reason but I have a big pot full of new plants from seeds and am in anticipation for next year's flowers :)
-
Might have to take some pics of ours which are mainly self sets...
;D

I agree about the yellows - I've lost all my McKana ones - but I do have 'Goldfinch' out. I'll try and get a picture. Good luck with your new plants. :)

How kind, Georgie - would they not get swamped or interfered with by all our common ones?
-

I really don't know, Tim, but I'm more than happy to send you some seeds if you fancy a little experiment. :)

very nice - looks like the original nora barlow?
-
found my camera at last!
These are various self sown ones, Black Barlow (as promised - looks more purple than black in these photos!) and Ruby Port.
Some of the photos may be a bit blurry - bit windy here today!
-
beautiful, thanks :)
-
We have a few of these in our garden, although they are not as intricate and varied as these ones. I got a packet of seeds free in a magazine and was wondering about sowing them on the allotment, along the edge. Is it worth doing that now as i beleive they are spring flowering?
Also, i noticed a lot of smaller plants, that didn't flower around the dgarden and wondered if they self-seed to a problematic degree?????
