Title: Trees or triffids?
Post by: ducky123 on July 19, 2004, 21:01:29
New to this site, and quite new to allotments - had it a few months. My problem is two trees, ash trees I think, whihc were pruned by the council earlier this year and now have hundreds of suckers growing. What can I do  about them? They are taking over!

Hi, Ducky
I'm not sure if your ash trees have produced suckers ... Did the council cut them down to the ground? If so the new growth is likely to have come from the stump (coppicing). However, if young ash trees are appearing all over your garden, then just pull them (or dig them) out before their roots get too deep. Hope this helps! Regards Spurdie

They are definitely suckers - their roots are attached to the main tree roots which is why I can't get them out
