Carrot 'Flyaway F1' – this autumn king-type has good carrot fly resistance plus a good sweet taste. Good looking tapered stump roots. Normal price £1.70
■ Parsnip 'Gladiator F1' – British bred with a uniform smooth tapered root and shallow crown. High natural resistance to canker. Normal price £1.35
■ Turnip 'Market Express F1' – pure white, small and early maturing Japanese type – 5cm/2in roots. Remarkably cold tolerant. Normal price £1.55
■ Swede 'Virtue' – well flavoured flesh with attractive purple/red skinned globes. Stores very well. Normal price £1.35

Bought the magazine and didn't notice the free offer!  Still I rang them up and got last months offer as well!

I tried my first turnip last night!  Funnily enough I do not recollect ever eating one before - it was delicious!  Isn't it funny you trundle through life eating the stuff you know about and not venturing (often) off the chosen path.  I am discovering so many different veggies now I am 95% vegetarian!

I remember buying pimentos in a can!  Currently known as sweet peppers!  They just weren't around when I was a kid!  - The same cannot be said for turnips - just my mother not feeding us them!

Anyway will be growing my own soon!

Well done for scanning the magazines for me!
