Title: Shallots?
Post by: sarahr on July 11, 2004, 19:00:09
Went down the lottie today and noticed that some of the shallots stems which were green have started to go white. Some of the stems are completely white, others have just started to go white at the tips. Other still are completely green. What's wrong with them?

White like mouldy or white like discoloured?

It's approaching ripening time, but pull one up & take a look at the roots - any problem there? = Tim

White as in discoloured. I'm not sure about them ripening, I only planted them at the end of may. It was little bulbs you get in wilko's.

Ripening? Our February planted things are only just ready.

Anything on the roots?

Just thought - sometimes you can get the leaves eaten so that they show the whitish inside?? = Tim
