Gunnerbee

Best of luck with the weight loss!!

I found proper fast walking (I think they call it "power walking") really does help enormously!  If you can do 20+ minutes a day - luckily I have dogs so I have to go regardless of whether I want to or not - you will notice that your weight drops off quickly and your muscles get toned also pretty quickly - PLUS and this is a big PLUS it makes you feel sensationally alive and good!

Good Luck

Let us know how you do!

gunnerbeee, if it makes you feel any better, I did my first hour of aerobics last night in over 7 years................ :o :o :o  Felt like a puffing old steam train, then I came home and had sausages n mash! ;D ;D   Well, I figured it balanced something out somewhere, and the sausages really needed using up, as did the glass of wine left in the bottle! ;) ;D
Off to it again tonight, n the kids want macaroni n cheese for dinner.........but I shall serve it with a salad too!;D

I like your thinking Doris Pinks, I always tell myself if I have salad with pizza etc it's not so bad  ;)

 :o :o :o LOLOL

Good luck, gunnerbee, I wish you all the best.  If you have Sky TV, try catching a programme called X-Weighted on SkyRealLives.  It's really informative and helpful.

My sis and I are about to re-join a waterobics class at the local pool.  The last time we went, we were asked to leave because we got hysterical giggles and couldn't stop .....  ;D ;D

I' m Emagggie and I'm a weight watcher  8)
If I write down what I eat every day, I stick to the diet. It took me a while to get used to smaller portions and only one glass of wine :(, but I've lost 9lbs ish since early December.
I don't go as far as counting points when I go out - that would be torture in the extreme and just plain daft. ::)
Good luck Gunnerbee.........gis a progress report. ;D ;D

Morning Gunnerbee.  Congrats on taking the first step to WW.  If you have enough points and you go for the low pointed stuff, you really can eat all day though I suspect a couple of proper substantial meals a day will be good for you.  You shouldn't feel hungry all the time though and you should mention this to your leader when you go for your weigh-in.  Emagggi is right - it is easy to follow and you really do need to write everything down.  Good luck and keep us posted of progress.

Gunnerbee

Are you drinking loads of water?  If you feel a hunger pang have a glass of water.  You will pee for England but it does help to keep hunger pangs at bay flush out toxins etc (good for your liver/kidney etc) and it is free and on tap!

Keep going!  It does get easier!

actually it i a proven fact that if you feel hungy have a glass of water wait a while if youre still hungry then you probably are truly hungry, humans often mistake thirst for hunger.

I use the slimming world healthy eating option, it works really well for me, the year before last i lost shed loads of weight but last year after pneumonia etc etc and about 6 months on steroids it nearly all went back on, i decided to write the last year off and start again on 1st Jan i dont atend class hubby and i do it at home and thus far I have lost 8lbs and eating lots and enjoying it all, on a nother forum i belong to we have a weekly weigh in no one says what they weigh just what they lose gives everyone some support

Keep busy and STEP AWAY FROM THE LARDER. ;D
It does get easier, I promise. Tesco's Healthy Options have WW points on them usually, also Rakusens do 99% fat free crackers, 4=1 point. Nice with no butter and a smear of Bovril on with a bowl of home made veg soup. Stuffed peppers ( small allowance of rice, mushrooms,sp. onion, tomato, etc.) Suprising how that fills you up for few points.Fruit ,fruit and more fruit if you need a sweet taste. (look up points value first).
Carry on the good work Gunnerbee. ;D

Don't know about WW, so hope advice doesn't contradict it, but have just started GI diet with Tescos and bitched endlessly the first week because I was starving all the time. Now try to eat pasta a lot, as low GI so lasts longer, and start every day off with two slices of toast, one with low fat marge and marmite, and one with a poached egg. Don't get hungry till nearly lunchtime, and bring in loads of fruit each day to snack on (saves biscuit temptation). Hardest thing for me is portion control as I'm an enthusiastic eater, and when I like something I really, really like it!

Keep it up, it'll give me hope.

You might try porridge in the a.m. for variety. I find it lasts well and I think the proper type has a low GI

i dont eat ready meals much, but just for quickness and if i get desperate, Morrisons are doing the weight watchers meals at the moment for 69p each, thats a real bargain!!

that's the way we eat, barnowl, 'cos Ray's diabetic, low gi is better for him..also,
gunnerbee..from when I used to diet, I used to  keep lots of carrot and celery sticks in the fridge to snack on  :)

Having tried every club ! and diet going in my time i have done best on my diet which is based on rosemary connellys low fat diet with exercise and she is the only club that includes an exercise class in the weekly fee !!!!
So im saving my money by not going to a club and spending that on nice fruit and veggies and the money i would have wasted on sweeties, cakes and take aways more than covers my monthly gym fees !
I will say one thing you will never stick to lossing weight unless your head and heart are in it ! having dealt with lossing my sister and mother and had womb cancer which lead to major surgery all in one year and then treatment for 3 months i just could not get myself motivated into dealing with lossing weight, once life calmed down i found my brain clicked and thats it there is NO shaking me now i want the fat gone and i want to run the race for life in memory of my sister next year, no matter how slow i finish it i WILL finish it  :)
My top tip is eat plenty drink water and get moving !! my biggest problem was sitting on my fat bum and being very lazy  :-[
Come on you can do it  :D

I joined Weight Watchers a few years ago and put 4 pound on the first month, they wanted me to eat more food than I already did and I felt totally stuffed all the time.

I followed it to the T and quit when they said I hadn't.  Not for me this one.

Posted by: manicscousers  I used to  keep lots of carrot and celery sticks in the fridge to snack on

Im trying to avoid celery at the moment as im very partial to dipping it in the peanut butter jar!!!

I just love food too much!! ;D ;D ;D

Its the first time i felt full tonight, as i had two chippolatas, homemade bubble and squeak, beans and an egg,

The simplest meals are the best and the kids had clean plates too!!

I have great meals including roast dinners with dry roast potatoes and parsnips, currys, chilli, cottage pie, stir fries, spag bols but they are all cooked with no oil or fat, it takes a few days to get used to but its sooo easy, you par boil your potatoes fluff them up and sprinkle with a little salt and into a hot oven you get yummy roasties and i dry fry onions ect for the currys and drain off any fat that comes out of the meat, sounds a lot but its really easy and you dont feel like you are missing anything !!! No one loves food as much as i do and i even enjoy the gym as its a small one and not a yuppy one ! i love the swimm after and im allowed to take my towel to the edge and they pull the blind down so people cant see in and i go on the adults only time  :)
Today i had...
Cornflakes and banana
turkey salad, yoghert
chicken stir fry and yoghert
few grapes
One thing i dont eat now is bread its the one thing that will pile the pounds on me very fast !
Cant wait to get growing fresh salads and veggies again they taste sooo much better  :D

Good luck with the weigh in, Gunnerbee.  I weighed myself today and made a chart to stick on the fridge, going down 2lbs a week.  I'd like to lose at least that each week.  More than that is good but that's my minimum.  Next weigh in, next Saturday  :)

I also made myself a picture to stick on the fridge to help me when I'm feeling tempted!  ;D ;D

Good luck for tonight Gunnerbee.   DON'T be put off if you don't lose as much as you imagine - next week will be better.  If you are pointing you need to eat all your points.  Tonight I've got, steamed cabbage and onion (from lottie) with some mixed roasted veg (carrots and parsnip from lottie) and a breast of chicken (steamed).  Puds will be plain yogurt and blackberries with sweetener.  A feast!

Gunnerbee - do you realise that that is the equuivalent of two bags of sugar or 8 packs of butter.  When you see those you realise that you are doing very well.

Keep up the good work!

I joined Weight Watchers 13 weeks ago and have lost 22Ib so far.  I love it - I do the points and am never hungry and am now finding it difficult to use all of my points in a day.  I exercise 3 to 4 times a week plus have a weight watchers pedometer and walk about 6 miles a day.  Keep it up, with the warm weather just around the corner, think how great you will feel.

My walking trousers fall down around my once ample hips now. You may think that must be good, but now I will have to buy some more and as fashion seems to have changed on the w/trouser front ie; low rise as in hipsters with silly little zip fly I see myself stepping out in old trousers, belt + braces. :o

Lost half a stone and amazed - if I pull my tummy in and hold my breath I can pretend I have a flat stomach ::) Trouble for me is finding time and energy to exercise, as with commuting I leave the house at 7:30 am and don't get home till 7:30 at night, but I'm trying to walk 4km each lunchtime and run up the stairs. Anyone got any tips for squeezing in exercise when you're really busy?
