Just out of interest can I use my cold greenhouse for seed sowing?
Usually I would just sow them on my kitchen window but I feel I dont really have enough room for all of them.
What would you suggest?

btw......um i went and did something silly!!! Extended the plot again!!!! hahahaha

Seeds need warmth to help germination, so you would realy need a heated greanhouse

Im trying it in a cold greenhouse as I havent got the room indoors. Trial and error for me this year. But I get sun all day where its placed.

Yeh thats what I kinda thought, oh well just an idea.

As a general rule seed that can be sown directly into the ground will germinate in a cold greenhouse providing it doesn't go below about 40°F (4°C) i.e. the conditions will be similar to insitu sowings.
I would avoid sowing anything that is the least bit tender.
However my honest advice would be hang fire for at least another month, be patient is the order of the day.

My advice would be...Take your seed collection and go visit a rellie that lives more than a few miles away....ask them to *Look After* your seed collection until the middle of Feb. That way you won't be tempted to sow anything until then. ;D

I put a thermometer in my cold greenhouse, and it seems to be ok.
I have only planted onion seeds, leeks, petunias and lobelia.
It hasnt really got too cold here yet. Im in the Chilterns.
