Title: What did you buy for YOU this Christmas??
Post by: Jeannine on December 26, 2007, 18:40:59
Is anyone out there like me, among the gift buying for others I always buy something frivolous for me too.

This year I bought a minature soldering iron, a crucible for melting gold etc and a pair of tongues to pick it up, a melting mat and some bits and bobs for same.

I have been collecting bits and peces of old gold and silver for sometime so I can see a playtime coming up.

I haven't got a clue what I am doing..anyone know of a good book!!

So what did you buy for YOU?

XX Jeannine

I bought me what I really wanted in case no one else did (it never comes in wrong to have more than one....)  some knee high socks that won't roll down in my wellies and bought OH a couple of books that I also would like to read!  ;D  He wants to read them himself first though!

About £1,000 worth of work done on the car.  Essential really, and that included a service and MOT.  Hopefully I won't see the garage for another year.

But before the massive car bill I ordered some more smellies from http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk/home.php (http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk/home.php).  They are brilliant, excellent prices and deliver quickly.

I got Vanderbilt eau de toilette and body lotion for every day and Cabotine by Gres eau de toilette and body lotion for better use.  For best I still have some Opium and Givenchy Ysatis.

Books, books and more books! Three I intended to get and (ahem!) nine that I couldn't resist as they were so cheap.  All about gardening or plotting, including one called Creative Propagation, over 350 pages covering methods for all different types of plants from mosses to woody monocots (oo-er!), reduced from £17.99 to 4 quid.

Also lots of Lush goodies - any excuse.

Bit of a cheat....I bought my OH the complete set of  'Carry On' films on DVD for Crimbo, but as I love them too it's a bit like buying them for myself..... 8) ;D

The Blade Runner set sounds good to me too Barnowl! I saw the film when it was first released in a small theatre in Chinatown, when we came out it was dark and raining, just like still being in the film! I've never forgotten that!

After Christmas present for me. With the cash that John gave me I have to buy some new rope for my post and rope "fence" round my side grass area. Some toe rag(s) have gone along and cut 5 sections of rope. How I wish I could catch them.

Maybe chain link would be better?
Title: Re: What did you buy for YOU this Christmas??
Post by: lorna on December 27, 2007, 18:37:49
Amazin. took me ages to get permission to put up rope and posts, agreed on posts no higher than 1ft. We are supposed to be open plan. At the time I was trying to stop people from allowing their dogs to recycle their food on my garden. I thought I would google for strong wire but don't know what it is called. At least it would take them longer to "cut" through wire. Another idea is big link chain but I need about 30 mtrs and it works out quite expensive. Gotta get my thinking cap on :)

I always buy myself at least one Christmas present. This year there were three. A Bosch cordless screwdriver, A cream whipper and 'Nigella Express'. Most other things on my wish list were presents from Gordon. He is a love - he'd already bought me a 32 cell Root trainer set way back in October as a start and ended up giving me another 5 other pressies  8).

I usually have to go out and re-buy some gifts for me, becuase my folks often ask for a list of what I would like, so I provide a short one.  Unfortunately, they often see something which is similar but not quite what I suggested and at half the price think they've bought a bargain!  Think sneerboer at tesco value prices!

prink, daughter Alyson bought one for her children. Brilliant, children didn't get a look in on Christmas Eve when we had a family gathering, the adults took over :) As I was a great snooker player in my teens I am seriously thinking of going in to overdraft to buy myself one if only to play snooker ;D

Well I bought myself a DVD of 'The Victorian Kitchen Garden' - was buying it for a friend (who is over the moon with his copy) - I've wanted it myself for so long so ordered two!

am saving mine to watch when I feel a bit 'down in the dumps' just know it will cheer me - just adore the music that accompanies it....Emma Johnson playing Paul Reade's 'The Victorian Kitchen Garden Suite' - moves me to  :'( but in a nice way :)

You'll like that HP, I watched it on UK Style Gardens earlier this year and it acutually offered some gardening advice; as opposed to all of the modern gardening shows which either concentrate on garden centre makeovers or on flowers only  >:(

Enjoy!

I'm just about to order myself some fleece lined wellies from this weeks amatueur gardener (£24.99 in case anyone wants some!) and I'm also going to buy Amy Winehouse's CD.  I've been putting off buying it because I don't want to help fund her addictions, but at the end of the day she's going to take them whether I pay for her CD or not so I may as well get it!  ;D

I didn't actually BUY my Christmas present to myself. I filled in an extraordinarily long order on a Marshall's seed form and sent it to my mother to pay for.

After 42 years of inappropriate presents (eg. one year it was a bottle of FAKE Chanel No. 5) I decided it was time to take charge of the situation  ;D

... I decided it was time to take charge of the situation  ;D

For years my SIL did this by making a long list of things she would like and woe betide anyone who deviated and bought something else!! and I always thought she was just being cheeky, but now I see the logic in it!  I have more of those 'camping' cups that have a plastic lid and keep your tea warm for longer than I need cos everyone thought it would be a good idea!  ???

I didn't rearly get myself a christmas present this year (waiting in argos for my present doesn't rearly count) but I did take a chance and got one of the books from my Christmas list when I saw it in the charity shop for 50p - nobody got me any of the books on my list so I was OK.  I am going to get myself a birthday present though, in fact I am going to get myself plenty of birthday presents as I am going to a monster craft show and intend to spoil myself rotten :-)
