We are at the point of harvesting all our summer bits, and we've also got a nice new bed all dug over and ready for action. Trouble is, there doesn't seem much that you can plant at this time of year. Any ideas anyone? Ta

Well, I didn't strictly take notice of what was written on the packets but I recently sowed:
broad beans
white onions for spring
red scarole lettuces
radishes
beets (a late variety)
spinach
What about some nice cabbage plug plants? I just stuck in some Milan cabbages and I recently put in some smooth leaved types. They are growing really well in this nice weather.
I believe there are also some beans you can still sow for some late green beans, a dwarf variety? They do grow quickly during a warm spell, then you can just let them die when it gets cold.
I have harvested almost nothing for now, except the spuds (total flop) and onions. The only things that have grown decently are the Sept-Oct things like carrots, fennel, broccoli. So soon I will have a glut ha ha

Think I'm going to concentrate on doing a better preparation job for the spring this year, as my overwnetered veg were pathetic last year (only did onions & greens).

there's spring cabbages, pak choi, chinese cabbages, oriental salads, late turnips, mooli, late chicories, green manures (for the soil and not to eat), also a good time to plant fruit - if you plan it right you can be sowing and planting all year round :)

Overwinter broad beans. You'll get a much earlier crop and less trouble with balckfly. i start mine off in tubes mad eof rolled newspaper, then plant out under bottles (the 2l plastic ones - cut off the bottom and leave the lid off).
Spring cabbages should be going in now, and don't forget the short dormacy garlic. You could also try winter lettuce like Little Gem under cloches.
Another one that surprsed me was rocket. It actually looks like a short lived perennial, so you'll get a nice early crop.
