Title: Is it slugs (2): Now have photo
Post by: kt. on August 08, 2007, 13:10:54
I posted a topic ref slugs but now have a photo. I have shown 6 people the potatos but nobody seems to know. The brown bits of the potato are dry and smooth.

The little holes could well be - but can't figure the other marks.

Had to cut down the PFA today - not due till October - so braced myself for total failure. Pleasantly surprised - off  one plant. Alright, nowhere near full size, but they are going to taste good!!

Was just going to remark that PFA are fairly slug proof - we haven't had damage to ANY variety this year - then found this!! Presumably, the blackening is due to them & not blight??

The yeuk is Blight or soft rot... you will tell as they decompose... quickly. Probably get in through the slug damage as the tubers of PFA are fairly resistant..
