You're welcome. Once I've tried them we'll likely come back for more. We're a dirty lot in this house! ;)

Sounds cool Trixie. I have very dry skin (being the delicate type!), but hate soap alternatives as they leave you feeling greasy, IMO. Have any other delicate skinned people road tested them yet?
Title: Re: SOAP ANYONE?
Post by: Trixiebelle on July 26, 2007, 18:51:52
Ollie!

Jeannine has tested some of the soaps and she is REALLY allergic to soap.

Maybe she could give a recommendation?

If you've got delicate/dry skin then I could make you a bar of soap: Olive oil, linseed and oatmeal?

yep, ollieC..another reccommendation here..I've got strange skin, I break out in hives with stuff like imperial leather, anything with a scent really..not with Trixie's gardeners or kitchen soap..I don't use them on my face but, then again, I don't use any soap on my face  ;D

I have skin that breaks out if I carry cardboard boxes and they touch my forearms, or lean on the edge of a chipbboard desk plus a whole lot more things , so I was a bit nervous when Trixie sent me some soap some months ago, however I felt I had to try it and I was amazed. I did not itch when I washed my hands, Ok so I will try it on my face, still no problems. I won't bore you with the details but it works fine on all my bits.

Trxie I have been waiting for you to get yourself togther,I have none left and now have skin breaks after going back to the regular stuff!!

I realise that all difficult skins react to different things but my skin is very  hard to live in and was a good test. Trixies soap came through really well. Give it a try.

When are you doing shampoo Trixie, I need that now.

just love the names of your soaps Trixiebelle - I don't use it either on my face but adore beautiful soaps, especially when it has a gorgeous perfume. I store mine amongst my 'undies & nightware' so when I take items out of the drawer to wear, they always smells lovely.

have just stocked up with a new selection after a recent holiday but would like to try some of yours one day.

good luck with your selling your goodies  :)

I'm definitely going to order a couple - they sound cool. Do you make them they way  they do in Fight Club?

Now, little Annabelle who is 2 has Eczema but loves playing with soap. We have a Burt's Bees solid shampoo that seems pretty gentle but can't find a soap that's gentle enough for her. Is there any kind of ultra ultra ultra ultra ultra gentle soap?

The Nit nurse is a good idea - I've got rid of 2 infestations on me using Tee Tree and a comb without a single bit of Sheep Dip poison.

OllieC! Never seen Fight Club ... is it a DREADFUL way of making soap??!

Little Annabelle: The best thing for eczema is definitely oatmeal and the goat's milk base is really gentle on the skin.

I could make her some soaps using the 'animal' moulds I have here - mentioned before: Cat, Monkey, Mouse & Pig. Just let me know what you want.

I've also got a mould for little teddy-bear shaped soaps - about 30g

The Nit Nurse shampoo is designed to be preventative but it would do no harm using it during an 'infestation'! I HATE the damned things!

When my daughter was at school and the 'nit-nurse' was abolished in schools, I attached 5 dead lice to one of my business cards and sent it to the local Council office in protest. Needless to say I never heard back.

Post by: Trixiebelle on July 27, 2007, 18:59:21
Thanks Sarah  :)

I reckon the Nit Nurse shampoo will do well!

Even if the tea-tree oil doesn't get rid of the critters the peppermint will ensure they have fresh breath!  ;)

They get the fat from the bins at the back of liposuction clinics and make very expensive soap which they then sell back to the rich people who got liposuction in the first place. Fairly grim but ecologically sound I spose. Rustling up an order next...

Well that could be called the 'Circle of Life' OR 'Rich Fat Lather Bars'. Pretty disgusting but no less than soap made out of whale fat (same thing really!)

Cheers Ollie  :)

Hey, Trixie, do you want me to test Nit Nurse for you, it would get a real good test at our school, at the risk of sounding indelicate I sometime wonder if the little varmits are are practising for the Dick Olympics, and they look like they are all on steroids too. !!

Do you reckon it works, I think the Hull ones are immune to most things now.

Jeannine!

I think it's probably a tall claim that the shampoo will kill 'em really. But tea-tree oil is good for detering them and killing them in neat form.

I don't think it's really fair to ask anyone to test it though! Can't really say 'here, have this bar of soap, don't treat your child with anything else and tell me if works!'

I could wait 'til Alfie gets them I suppose but they don't seem to land on his bonce  ::) Think he moves too fast!

Everyone orders were send 2nd class on Sat. morning. Cambourne, I'll post yours first thing tomorrow  :)

Aha! here you are. Right. My report on the Chamomile shampoo solid block for blondies is this: Gorgeous, smells divine, lathers up brilliantly, squeaky clean hair - no residue. Lovely.
The gardeners soap is just amazing - no need to nail brush your hands, nice light exfoliating action so no red raw hands - my girls love it and OH is amazed it takes plumber's muck off too.  :)
The goats milk and oatmeal (sensitive) i have just fallen in love with and will be ordering the lavender. Also this bar is soooo pretty. It looks a bit like a malted milk biscuit only with goats on instead of cows. (and is much bigger!) Too nice to use really.  ;D
They all lather up so beautifully - I love Lush stuff and this is just as good, if not in some respects rather better. Such as the fact that they don't go a bit slimy and soft like some hand made soap - these have all dried out beautifully and kept their shape and the moulded picture on the top.
I haven't tried the ginger and nutmeg massage bar yet but it smells toooooo good and is a work of art with cool knobbly bits on the top like one of those cellulite massage thingummies. What else? Oh, I think that's it. If you are a fan of Lush you may find they have to work hard to win you back.  :o :o :o
Thanks Trix, the girls and I are loving them.  :-* :-* :-* :-*
Orders coming your way.

Sarah - you will have to come round and trial them all out!!  ;D

There are validation issues that may cause the site not to function on all browsers but it worked OK in Firefox running on Linux. However there are a few points you should look into:

1. After adding an item to the cart the purchaser is left orphaned from the original page and may just wander off elsewhere. Consider changing the paypal return page to be the list page instead of the popup.

2. Anyone with scripting disabled cannot buy anything. Popup windows have their uses but cause navigation problems.

3. The white text on gray background could be invisible to many people and is not good for primary navigation.

Otherwise, well done.

ace site, i would suggest that you add a range of shopping bags as these are all the range at the moment.
Title: Re: SOAP ANYONE?
Post by: OliveOil on August 02, 2007, 08:14:02
Love the site, very humerous.

I would just add to the constuctives that it is not DDA compliant - your photos all need tags so that a disabled person knows what the picture is of... and also you need to beable to highlight the text holding the right mouse button which you can't - this enables disabled people to 'hear' the text if need be - Maureen should be able to sort that out easily for you.  ;D

Well done though - I really like it!

Super site, Trixiebelle - made me smile - and if I can find my way around it anyone can!

Just ordered Kitchen Soap, Gardener's Delight and Sensitive Kids(?). I didn't have eczema as a kid but have a faceful now - (I frighten the things that crawl out from under stones). But I guess 'Sensitive Crocodile-Faced OAPs' doesn't have quite the same ring to it?

Can't wait to try them out! Thanks very much, Val x

its amazing. first proper trip to the plot for a while yesterday and lots of de-gloved weeding to really test the lovely soap and i have to say it really did get rid of the ground in grime even along the edge of my index finger which gets really impossible to clean sometimes. i'm not kidding this is miracle soap. ;D i shall be ordering more for me and some for crimbo pressies.

MIRACLE SOAP?! I wouldn't go that far Sarah but it certainly does the trick  ;D

I'll be doing proper gift packs for Christmas by the way. Dead posh!

I've only used the Kitchen soap so far. It is wonderful. Fragrant and bubbly. Loves it we does. I also love the wrapping. Quite discrete and yet sophisticated in an underspoken sort of way.

Hi Trixiebelle! Just can't read this thread any more - makes me SOOOOO jealous! Ordered my three soaps on 02 August (paid by Paypal) - no sign of them yet.  :'(

And I'm getting ever so dirty............. xxx

Ok Grandma, not a problem! I'll send you some more tomorrow - recorded delivery this time  :)

I think the postal strikes are still going on but if it's 1st class AND recorded it will minimize the possibility of it disappearing in to the ether that is Royal Mail!

Thanks everyone else for your feedback!

Hiya Trixie!

Bl**dy amazing, isn't it? Parcel arrived today! Had been addressed to 61 and not 62 so had gone half way around the globe to find me. (I've only lived here for 36 years so I suppose I shouldn't have expected the postman to recognise my name  ;))

Anyhow - they look and smell absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Have only had them 5 mins so only tried one so far (Kitchen Soap) - love it! I hope you have already put that second parcel in the post - saves me re-ordering! Please PM me with your address and I'll put a cheque in the post.

Going outside to make mud pies now - just so that I can try the Gardener's Delight!

Thanks ever so much! xxx

A BIG thank-you for everyone that's ordered soaps etc and given me feedback on the site  :)

Just to let you know, I've updated the site this morning to include lots of new products & a 'Gift Packaging' section.

http://www.stoneconsortium.net/

Nearer to Christmas (argghhhhhhhhh!) we'll be doing a 'special' section ... if I can bring myself to acknowledge the imminent event.

Thank-you again!

Trix, ive tried on a couple of occasions to complete an initial order for you and the site just freezes up on me.

Ive just checked back today after your reminder and  the shopping basket is complete with my original order that i processed a few weeks back (prior to the site freezing) Ive just tried to add to it and it wont budge.

Hmmmmm....so how do i get to try your handiwork then? :'(

Hi Honeybee :)

Have you tried deleting your browsing history/clearing cookies? This usually frees up any frozen basket problems?

If that doesn't help, just PM me what you want & I'll let you know the Paypal addie

Dear Trixie,
This morning I brought out my last bar of Gardener's Delight after the person who was fixing our fireplace was showered in debris and soot for his trouble! He had high praise for your soap - it removed the muck like a treat.  So I've passed along your website details and have now placed an order for lots of the 'builders' soap to try (amongst a few others as well).  :D
Thanks again
Cari
