Sky Rats!!!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(    Hate the things!

Right there with you guys NETS!!  ;D

But they also hate flapping things ... so use lots of CD discs strung on lines.  I have also been using orange and red poly bags that flap and rustle.  It seems that they do not like red!!  Can you get your hand on some builders plastic scaffold tape??? String it everywhere!!

I think I have the answer this year to both the pigeon and butterfly problem

Access is by lifting the botttom at either end.

It is a bit Heath Robinson but I am not going to be beaten.

It is based on my standard raised bed and can be moved about

Hi,

Pigeons and time. I have too much of one and not enough of the other..time that is.
My plot is in the foreground. I have wind netting at the bottom and 4inch pea netting up the sides and over the top. It took me most of the winter to sort out but now I can just turn up and start allotmenting.

The pea neeting keeps the Pigeons and other flying varmints out but lets the Robin, Finches, Tits and Sparrows in. The little chaps seem to keep catterpillars in check.

You might guess I have not sorted out the picture addition process. I am good with a spade! See my blog for the picture. Blog link at the foot of the message.

My husband made something (abit like  ::) ) the photo above ...we stapled that white fleece over it ...I hope this wont make it too hot inside...and also that the rain can get in ?     It,s not just pigeons ...it,s butterflies too.  I used to like butterflies ! Rohaise

We net our brassicas too but it seems the sparrows have developed a taste for the spinach beet!
