Title: school pond
Post by: dandelion on May 21, 2007, 17:25:44
My children's school have received a grant to improve a neglected wildlife pond. The trouble is it's in full shade (close to a building and surrounded by tall trees). Are there any pond or marginal plants which will grow in deep shade? Any other tips?

For foliage effect you could try Arum lily (Zantedeschia ethiopica) in the water. For marginals Hosta will grow in the mud or in a pot in several inches of water, Bergenia, Ajuga, or Typhonium in pots (Summer only). I'm sure there are many more.
