Hello all from a newbie.
To stop cats *Depositing* unwanted parcels in your garden; This is what I do. Buy some wooden kebab sticks (from cheapie store) and *PLANT* them Point Upwards, spaced at about 1ft intervals. That way, if they do squat down, they get a sharp pain in the ar*e ;D

Hawthorn clippings strewn artistically over my newly planted seedbeds also work - well they do for my two. Though it wouldn't surprise me if I caught them using the rake one day...

Argghhhh
Bl**dy pests - one that uses my front garden obviously has a bad case of the runs at the moment! I am going to try watering the area with Jeyes fluid tomorrow (too much rain atm! ) to see if that deters the d**n things.
Sorry if I sound harsh - but I have neighbours whio have gardens like middens and the cats choose my carefully tended plot to foul! It makes me angry!
Think i'll try the pointy sticks thing as well!

Mini landmines that emit a foul stench all over the said feline would put them off..........Anyone know where I can get some?
Four times the blighters have dug and deposited in my raised beds at home. One with (now scattered everywhere) carrots, and the other with strawberries.

We have covered the entire raised bed with netting, secured it down with slabs, pegs and compost bags. The problem now is that the spuds have grown so tall that we need to loosen the netting, but its not big enough! Will have to buy more, or come up with another plan!

in my case my cat was a pain in the ankle( tripped over the thing and broke it (ankle not cat) but i still love him to bits so would hate him to have a sore bum doing what comes naturally. cats dislike water and being sprayed with it puts them off with only their dignity hurt. after all they think you have prepared that lovely diggable earth for them they do,nt understand growing things

I wouldn't mind if they were MY cats, but they are a whole bunch of neighbourhood cats AND ferrals that my next door but one neighbour keeps feeding. She doesn't have any cats herself, and her hubby shoos them away when he's there, as he is a gardener too. Why do they have to chose my raised beds to excrete there foul mess in?
It's bad enough with the local squirrels digging everywhere looking for their stored food. (after we've already dug it all over)( and the bl**dy pigeons, which she also feeds)

cat owners are irresponsible beings can't control their pets dog owners have to keep control of their pet and clean up after them. If i was to do something in their garden see how the would soon kick up a stink

My (wife's) cat destroyed £30 worth of plants last year, so this year when it came to replanting I covered the area with surface level chicken wire and let the plants grow through the holes. No probs with the cat at all: she can't bury her doings so doesn't bother doing the doings in the first place. Of course this method only works if you don't intend moving any of the plants.

I've tried all deterrents/bramble/orange peel/untrasonic devices/other methods.
You can't win.
A cat will crap, full stop.
Unless we have the ability to shoot the bas***s - we lose!

Try tiger droppings from the local zoo (if you have one or a safari park nearby). That should stop them in their tracks.

So where's your cat crapping now?
She now chooses one of two options: either in the litter tray or in the small square of dug earth I left round the back of the rubbish heap especially for that purpose. She is a cat that prefers tro bury her business and thus either of these options are much preferable to trying to dig through chicken wire.

ok, 30 secs is a bit of an exaggeration a quick dip only scares them :o Can't be as bad as a garden full of sharp sticks???

I dont mind my cats using a bit of the garden as they usualy bury it.
ITS THE NEWSPAPER THEY WERE READING AND LEAVE UP THERE THAT GETS TO ME.

every morning i go out and scout the garden for cat poo and it really does my swede i get more on my grass then on my plants they manage to poo between the plants then dig them up when burying it. i picked up 4 lots directly off the grass the other morning and it was gross :o

my father used to cut wire coat hangers into 10" lenths and stuck them in the ground. trouble is they looked awful and the cats still shat on the grass so he ended up manning a hose pipe for extended periods in the hope of catching the d**n creatures to squirt them. He also tried buckets of hot water, mothballs, shouting etc etc, in the end they won and he emigrated to spain!

Good job we have someone to clear up our crap hey ! Too many years ago I went to Stonehenge for the solstice festival and littered around were piles of human crap covered in brightly coloured bog roll, nice!

Keep cat's away. Sprinkle or spray vinegar on areas you don't want the cat walking, sleeping or scratching on.

You've got to look at this solution, well not so much a solution BUT it keeps the cats clean!
