Having stopped from 8 hours at the allotment, the palms of each hand are tender and a little swollen. Should be fine tomorrow
3/4 of the plot is now full having transplanted over 120 brassicas & 30 parsnips in toilet-roll tubes today, I also had to saw 90 collars from lengths of drain-pipe. Guess I should of done that job over winter months.

rub in some olive oil - it works a treat

mix the olive oil with a little cypress and rosemary oils, they're good for aches 'n' pains :)
don't do it if the skin's broken though, it could sting :)

lucky you!! you're ahead of me. mays usually my mad time. blistered hands, sore back, arms so scratched by clearing nettles and tying in brambles i look like a self harmer!!
i bet you've got a big grin on your face when you next walk into your allotment and see all your hard work, well done.

Sure did this evening. All the brassicas were standing tall and firm as opposed to the wilting they do when they get too big for seed trays & other starting containers. ;) ;) ;)

Bodyshop Hemp hand oil is pretty good, helps with very dry cracked skin as well as blisters.
I've just had a new supply for my birthday, OH has been known to nick it, as it "doesn't smell girly"........! ;D

What are the 90 collars for?
The collars are to help protect the brassicas from slugs & beasties. They are 6 inches diameter & 7-8 inches tall. The collars are inserted 2-3 inches in the ground then brassicas are transplanted inside the rim. Collars are also ideal when watering as the water is poured inside them going to the base of the plant and not all over the soil elsewhere.
