Title: How do I post artichokes ???
Post by: knbsallotment on March 09, 2007, 19:51:49
I am due to post some artichoke tubers tomorrow to Jeannine - as I have never posted them before, just wondering if I should take any special precautions? Do they need to be surrounded by something moist? Having inherited my artichokes, I have never bought any, or even used the ones I had - for the first season, I didn't know what they were! Thought they were a giant weed, until I dug a few up and saw the tuber! Doh!

I received some from the late Super Sprout in a reused jiffybag. She had put them in a small plastic bag plus copious notes on how to grow and cook them. They looked perfectly well, and I planted them a few days later.

Very generous of her, and it was a shock to hear that she died not long afterwards.

Thanks for your advice. So sorry to hear about Super Sprout's passing. She seems to have been highly thought of.

I posted some off recently... they got there fine. They don't like to dry out but to keep the weight down wrapping them in Clingfilm can help...
