Title: Early potatoe shoots, QUESTION
Post by: a.buaras on February 04, 2007, 11:31:47
Hi every one, I bought potatoes seed (Royal kidney) as second early before two weeks, I stored it in its plastic bag under my bed when I opened the bag to chitt them I found they’ve already chitted with leggy shoots. However, they are only supposed to have grown short and stocky shoots.
I still have three weeks before planting, what should I do now???

There not too bad... just set them out to chit in the light and they should be OK.

Indeed - & a lesson to all?   NEVER store seed potatoes in a plastic bag!!

And a reminder that they will do their own thing when their time is up, whether you 'chit' or not.

They look fine to me too a.b., you got them in time :P Do make sure they're cool and in good light tho', light will make the shoots go nice and stubby :)

possibly a bit too warm under the bed, give them a bit of cold, that'll stop 'em..look ok. to me as well  :)
