It does stress on the bottle not to swallow the product, but I tend to find that it is very useful for mouth problems, not just mouth ulcers but sore gums, and even toothache.

It's also handy for cuts and scratches. The smell isn't a million miles away from creosote, (http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r42/GWDAdmin/Smileys/Eek.gif) but unlike TCP (which I had always used previously) it doesn't linger. It is also far more effective than TCP IMHO.

As for gardening usage, I potted up some of the better geraniums (zonal pelargoniums) that I had used for summer bedding and brought them into the house last autumn. One or two developed a touch of grey mould, but a quick application of tea tree oil cured the problem completely. ;)

I always get mine from the Body Shop, but it is widely available.

Can vouch for it as a headlice remedy - use the Australian TT shampoo and conditioner and a nit comb and a lot less hassle than the other chemical solutions (I'm thinking screaming and chasing small children around the house :o )

Excellent for freshening up cloth nappies too - just need a drop on a cloth, and put in the tumble drier with the nappies for five minutes.

Tea tree has anti-viral properties too, and is recommended for treating colds, chest infections and coughs.

Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil to a bowl of steaming water. Inhale the vapour for five to 10 minutes, with your head and the bowl covered with a towel to contain the steam.

Doesn't it have to be added to another oil to 'dilute' the strength.

Interested in the headlice usage as have a 10yr old and 8 yr old  :-\.

Also the toe fungal infection - is it applied neat or mixed in with another oil??

Tea tree oil has many uses, but it looks like it gives you man breasts. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6318043.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6318043.stm).

Hi Debs - used undiluted on the toe nail and also on the shin as long as the skin is not broken

Nails responded really well with the new growth improving over a long period

Can vouch for it working on nits, it is supposed to be a deterant.

Have got tea tree shampoo and an detangling spray for my sprogs,as at one point they seemed to be bringing home new 'friends' everyday. >:(

They haven't had them for months now, although now I've said that....

Doesn't smell the nicest though!

I'm an Aromatherapist and can confidently recommend Tea Tree for fungal nail infections (I've used it myself!). Tea Tree is one of few essential oils that can be used neat.
For head lice, I would recommend on very young children (under 5) that it is diluted in almond oil, rubbed into the hair, left for a few minutes, probably as long as they can stand the smell for  :D and then washed out with a mild shampoo. Diluting it isn't essential as it is non toxic and non irritant but some people do show some sensitivity to it.

If you have any other questions, please let me know  :)

Tea tree oil fab substance. This is my recipe for bug free hair ( 2 daughters, so bain of my life) Week night baths, teatree shampoo, comb through tea tree conditioner and use white plastic comb to go through, rinse bugs under tap. Once a month : small amount olive/ almond oil, 5 drops tea tree, 2 eucalyptus, 2 lavender, mix and massage into hair, but in straigtening motion, not round and round as this creates knots from hell and sreaming children. Leave on for about 5 minutes , rinse and wash as usual.
For the ladies Clary Sage massaged into tummy relieves cramps and Mandarin oil in a base of olive or almond oil is instant pick me up aroma.  :)

I buy mine from QVC and put a drop on my dogs, fleas don't like it,l don't like the idea of putting those chemical drops on his neck.

Also it's good for keeping away mozzies apparently, but l stick to taking brewers yeast tabs for that  :D
