Title: quick grass question?
Post by: a.buaras on December 14, 2006, 19:08:17
I've read the following in a link in this website "to protect veg plant from slugs, surround them with dried finely chopped quick grass leaves and roots"

I've got a couple of questions about this...

Exactly what is quick grass?
..were can I get hold of it if its seed or roots?
.. Should I grow it in a container so that it doesn't spread over the whole plot?
 ???

If it's couch and you don't know it, consider yourself fortunate!

Hi ,Robert
1, my next question might sound a bit dumb, my Lotty's full of Couch grass, how does the slug get to my plot past the couch grass which is suppose to be toxic to it, and get to my beds in the first place?

Ah, well, that's fresh couch grass, not the dried, chopped kind  ;D ;D ;D

If you have couch/twitch/quick grass and you completetly dry out the roots it makes a great top dressing as it is full of trace elements... and it does seem to deter slugs, and new couch!
