Title: Yukon Gold?
Post by: dandelion on July 05, 2006, 14:30:02
Does it grow this big? Or did I mix up my seed potatoes? Also growing Charlotte and Maris Peer.

I've never grown Yukon Gold but intend to do so next year!
How did they taste dandelion? Interested to know how they performed too.

Wow, Dandelion, have planted Yukon Gold too (first time) but they are nowhere near ready yet - so you ahve certainly given us soemthing to live up to!

Like Tora look forward to your comments on taste - tho (as has been said elsewhere on this site) that can vary from plot to plot let along country to country ;D

It passed the taste test with flying colours ;D.  I baked the big ones for dinner. The flesh is very yellow and creamy. Neither waxy nor floury, but almost buttery, so you don't need to add butter (we ate ours with a dollop of garlicky yoghurt).

I only got one BIG spud from each plant. The rest were  medium sized, small and tiny. But quite a good yield overall.
