Title: Something is eating my sweetcorn
Post by: Rosyred on June 14, 2006, 06:28:12
Sowed my mini pop straight into the soil and last night forgot to cover it up and some little monkey just cut the tops right off and eats the kernal I suppose. Quite cross this morning as they did it before but last night its all my crop. Would it be squirrel, rat or birds do you think?

At this time of year I would blame wood pigeons, they came into my frame and systematically worked through half a tray of new pea seedlings in pots, threw the shoot away and ate the peas!

My neighbour's corn has been munched to near soil level, but mine has been left alone. There are small footprints all over the bed, rabbits?

Hi all,

Pheasants are having a really good year this year,

All over my site they are having beans of all kinds, peas, strawberries and bush fruit.

Net everything And they are getting under nets.

Blame pheasants >:(

I saw a grouse on our site two days ago, I've never seen a grouse around here before. I wonder if they eat everything like the nasty pheasants.

Also have a mystery.
I net everything, but some basket(s) have gotten into my winter cabbages & stripped the leaves off 30% of the plants.
There's no way in so I'm mystified/ never had rabbit probs. by the way!
