Title: How many trusses?
Post by: deboydoyd on June 09, 2006, 15:45:44
We now have 8 flowering trusses on our Alicante tomatoes (3-4 have set) I know it says in the books to pinch out the growing tips after 6-7 trusses but with it being quite early and being greedy I was wondering if I had any chance of getting more than the alloted amount or would this affect the overall yield/quality.

You seem to be well ahead - I would say go for more. You could allow some to grow on & compare with others that are stopped at 7.

We grew Flamme 6' up & 4' along the roof last year.

Some really organised growers used to  re tie them, untie them run along ground and up new canes to get even more trusses... they are not called indeterminate for nothing!
